GIVE

How we give generously of our time and treasures!

The Bible has over 2,300 verses that address the subject of money and possessions. Jesus' ministry was to help people realize that God is involved in all aspects of your life, including your time and treasure. Giving allows us to demonstrate that He is more important to us than anything else! We believe you can't out-give God, so when you're trusting Him with your time and treasure, we know that He will bless the rest (Malachi 3:10-12). We think Christians should be the most generous people on earth to support worthy causes - and there is no organization with more potential to change the world than the local church!

MINISTRY PLACEMENT

Ministry placement represents the “other side of the coin” when it comes to spiritual growth. If groups are the “intake” side of discipleship, then ministry service is the “outflow.” The goal is to take knowledge and love to others through service. Ministry service helps the local church build disciple-making efforts, while missional activity serves those outside of the church with the hope of sharing the gospel.

FINANCIAL DISCIPLESHIP

The Bible provides more than 2,350 verses dealing with money and possessions. Nearly half of Jesus’ parables dealt with money. Despite this wisdom, statistics on financial health for the average American family are incredibly discouraging. To help people be good stewards or managers of the resources God has entrusted to them, LHC regularly offers discipleship opportunities focused on handling money with wisdom, such as Financial Peace University and Crown Financial Bible Studies.

FINANCIAL COUNSELING

People often become trapped in financial challenges because they cannot afford a financial planner or they are too ashamed of their current financial picture. However, the Gospel is about hope – not shame – and this hope-filled transformation is possible in every area of life. Sometimes a Coach can help navigate the challenging maze of personal finance. LHC offers free, confidential Budget Counselors who help individuals gain financial freedom using Biblical principles.

THE GENEROSITY JOURNEY

When viewing generosity, we often do not hold to the same standards of progressive sanctification that we do in other spiritual disciplines. Many have been taught that giving 10% (a tithe) is both the floor and ceiling of obedience when it comes to the spiritual discipline of giving. However, the testimony of most generous givers is that while they grew to that point, they did not start there. “Every step of obedience honors God” is what we believe when it comes to generosity. The goal is to find out where you land on the Generosity Journey and commit to growing from there.
